Definitions

CLSC: Centre local de services communautaires (Local Community Service Centre). CLSCs are free clinics which are run and maintained by the Quebec provincial government.

CSSS: Centre de santé et de services sociaux (Health and Social Services Centre) offers children, youth, adults and elderly persons a range of service including community services, hospital services, and residential & long-term care.

L’Agence: L’Agence de la santé et des services sociaux de l’Outaouais (Outaouais Health and Social Services Agency)

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

CHSSN: Community Health and Social Services Network. A network of community organizations, resources and public institutions striving to ensure access to health and social services in English for Quebec’s English-speaking communities.

OHSSN: Outaouais Health and Social Services Network

INFO SANTÉ: Telephone help line focusing on health issues. Nurses can advise you or guide you to the appropriate resources. This service is free of charge and completely confidential. Available 24 hrs a day.

Long-Term Care Facilities: Residential facilities for elderly or infirm individuals who require ongoing professional care, services, and/or equipment to maintain their daily health. There are both private and public facilities, sometimes located within or close to hospitals.

PDF: Adobe’s Portable Document Format, used for many documents posted on this website. 

Territory: Refers to the geographic area served by a given CSSS Centre. There are five CSSS territories in the Outaouais region.

Regional Services: Refers to an institution or agency that provides services to residents throughout the Outaouais, either through a central location or through branch offices.
